Our Founder

The Brain Care Campaign is a student-led public-benefit initiative founded by Judi Alkurdi, a neuroscience student at McMaster University.

This campaign was created in response to a clear gap Judi observed between academic knowledge about the brain and the accessibility of that knowledge to the public—particularly to individuals facing chronic stress, instability, and social barriers. While neuroscience continues to advance, education about how the brain responds to stress, trauma, and adversity often remains out of reach for those who could benefit from it most.

Judi Alkurdi

Judi is a third-year neuroscience student at McMaster University with a love for learning about the brain and how it shapes our emotions, resilience, and everyday experiences. Beyond the lab and classroom, she has always been drawn to helping people understand themselves and care for their mental wellbeing.

The Brain Care Campaign began as Judi’s personal vision: to take what she was learning about the brain and make it something people could actually feel and use in their lives. She wanted to create a space where science meets compassion, where knowledge feels like care, and where everyone—especially those facing stress or hardship—can feel seen and supported.

For Judi, this work is deeply personal. Her years of volunteering and community involvement have shown her that listening, understanding, and sharing knowledge with kindness can make a real difference. She hopes the Brain Care Campaign can be a gentle guide, helping people nurture their minds, build resilience, and feel empowered to care for themselves.
